Master of Science in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience
Upon successful completion of the MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience, UT Dallas students will have acquired basic knowledge in at least one of the following areas: cognitive-neuroscience, neuroscience, neurological diagnosis and monitoring, usability engineering, and machine learning.
- Acquire written and oral communication skills.
- Acquire thinking and analytical skills in the student's specialization area.
- Acquire a combination of data analysis and computer programming skills.
Doctor of Audiology
Upon successful completion of the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree program, UT Dallas students will learn, identify, and apply knowledge of hearing, behavioral, and related sciences regarding assessment and management of hearing or balance disorders across the lifespan by adhering to ethical and professional standards, promoting patient, community, and global health and well-being, and collaborating with professionals within and across disciplines at local, state, national and international levels, critically evaluating research literature in audiology and related fields, and being prepared to enter a research doctoral program if they with to pursue that career path.
- Obtain clinical competency in assessment of auditory capabilities across the lifespan via objective and subjective evaluation of the severity of the impairment, including the psychosocial vocational, and emotional factors.
- Obtain clinical competency in management of auditory impairment across the lifespan via technology including amplification, hearing assist technology, and cochlear implants.
- Obtain clinical competency in assessment of balance disorders.
- Develop skill to critically evaluate research, apply evidence-based practices in assessment and management of hearing and balance disorders, and participate in clinical research programs.
Bachelor of Science in Child Learning and Development
Upon successful completion of the BS in Child Learning and Development degree program, UT Dallas students will learn and identify fundamental processes of child and adolescent development within the contexts of families, schools, peer groups, and larger cultural milieu with the following skills:
- Students will demonstrate scientific literacy, especially as it pertains to research in child and adolescent development.
- Students will apply ethical standards, psychological concepts, and/or research findings to inform applied issues related to child and adolescent development.
- Students will demonstrate effective writing and oral skills to communicate information about the scientific study of child development and its application.
Doctor of Philosophy in Cognition and Neuroscience
Upon successful completion of the PhD in Cognition and Neuroscience, UT Dallas doctoral graduates will have contributed new knowledge to our understanding of the nervous system.
- Students will have advanced scientific writing and presentation skills.
- Students will understand how to plan and implement scientific projects.
- Students will have advanced data analysis skills that are applicable to many scientific disciplines.
Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science
Upon successful completion of the BS in Cognitive Science, UT Dallas students will have acquired basic knowledge of neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and computer science.

- Acquire thinking and analytical reasoning skills in two or more of the areas of: Psychology, Neuroscience, and/or Computer Science.

Master of Science in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders
Upon successful completion of the MS in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders, UT Dallas students will apply knowledge about typical and atypical early child development, assessment, and best practices to best serve children and their families with the following skills:
- Students will utilize skills in comprehensive developmental assessment to plan and implement appropriate intervention services.
- Students will apply principles of ethical professional practice, including use of reflective supervision to increase self-awareness, when working with children and their families.
- Students will critically evaluate research evidence to promote best practices in assessment, intervention, and service delivery.
Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience
Upon successful completion of the BS in Neuroscience, UT Dallas students will have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of the nervous system, including its cellular physiology, chemical communication mechanisms and functional anatomy.
- Students will understand the principles of the nervous system and be able to apply this knowledge in medical training or other professional training programs where advanced knowledge of the nervous system is required.
- Students will have training in scientific writing and scientific presentation skills, as well as a working knowledge of evaluation of the primary scientific literature.
- Students will understand how nervous system dysfunction relates to disease. This basic knowledge will help them in professional medical training, working in industry solving medical problems and/or in pursuit of a research career.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Upon successful completion of the BS in Psychology degree program, UT Dallas students will develop a knowledge base in psychology that can be applied to the scientific study of Psychology or application of Psychology with the following skills:
- Students will demonstrate scientific literacy, especially as it pertains to research in psychology.

Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology
Upon successful completion of the PhD in Psychology, UT Dallas students will be able to understand, design, and conduct research in psychology, with specialized knowledge in at least one of the following areas: developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, or social/personality psychology with the following skills:
- Students will demonstrate the ability to teach in psychology, as evidenced through effective oral communication skills in the classroom, laboratory, or while presenting research findings.
- Students will demonstrate written communication skills through effective scientific writing.
- Students will demonstrate ability to plan and implement all aspects of a research project (design, analysis, interpretation, and communication of findings).
Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences
Upon completion of the BS in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences program, students will be able to:
- Identify the major disorders of speech, language, and hearing in children and adults.
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of current clinical assessments and interventions used with children and adults having speech, language, and hearing impairments.
- Use speech, language, and hearing science to explain the abilities and disabilities of children and adults with speech, language, and hearing disorders.
Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology
Graduates from the MS in Speech-Language Pathology program will be able to:
- Apply knowledge in communication and swallowing processes and disorders, including their biological, neurological, acoustic, psychological, developmental/lifespan, linguistic and cultural bases to clinical practice at a level commensurate with entry-level certification and licensure in speech-language pathology.
- Apply the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for people with communication disorders including anatomical/physiological, psychological, developmental, and linguistic and cultural correlates of the disorders to clinical practice at a level commensurate with entry-level certification and licensure in speech-language pathology.
- Evaluate and treat individuals who exhibit disorders of articulation, fluency, voice/resonance, receptive/expressive language, hearing, swallowing, cognitive aspects of communication, social aspects of communication, and communication modalities and demonstrate critical thinking skills to clinical practice at a level commensurate with entry-level certification and licensure in speech-language pathology.
Doctor of Philosophy in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences
Upon successful completion of the PhD program in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, graduates will be prepared to design and conduct studies of speech, language, and/or hearing in typical individuals and in those with disorders affecting communication; areas of doctoral study encompass the physiological, neurological, and psychological aspects of communication and on identifying, treating, and preventing developmental and acquired communication disorders.
