Bachelor of Arts in American Studies

Upon successful completion of the BA in American Studies, UT Dallas students will have explored, interpreted, and analyzed American culture, past and present, from an interdisciplinary perspective. This includes:

  • Research methods, information literacy, and synthesis of sources.
  • Effective oral and written communication tailored for the target audience.
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and analysis.
  • Cultural competency and awareness of diversity issues.

Bachelor of Arts in Education

The Bachelor of Arts in Education degree emphasizes a broader understanding and wider perspective of the field of education. Becoming a teacher takes preparation and planning. Students in this program will be able to:

  • Give clear and accurate instructions. They need to be excellent and articulate communicators.
  • Understand and know the content. They are well-versed and can modify instruction to meet the needs of their various students.
  • Know how to integrate and reinforce concepts from other disciplines.
  • Ensure that all of their students are challenged.

Upon completion of the BS in Healthcare Studies, UT Dallas students will have received the traditional combination of science courses with labs in addition to coursework that approaches healthcare issues from a multidisciplinary perspective. This includes:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Case management skills including appropriate communication skills for interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of payer sources and procedures in healthcare.
  • Patient education techniques including communication skills for effective interactions with patients and family members.

Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies

Upon successful completion of the BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, UT Dallas students will have received grounding in the traditional arts and sciences from an interdisciplinary perspective. This includes:

Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies

Upon completion of the MA in Interdisciplinary Studies, UT Dallas students will have incorporated and integrated various academic disciplines, theories, and methodologies to explore their individualized concentration area. This includes:

  • Written communication skills that are appropriate for their area of study.
  • Research data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Construction of evidence-based arguments and recommendation.
